Pursue Simplicity: Tidy Up Tips From An Expert Part 2

In this second part of our blog series, we are finishing up our tidy up tips on how to organize your life according to the world famous how to book , The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo.  Here are the last few tips to help you make a change in your life and simplify the packing and unpacking process when you buy or sell your home!

So Let’s Pick Up Where We Left Off:

Tip #6 Don’t Keep Gifts Out Of Guilt

We’re starting off with a hard one. When someone gives you a gift that you dislike or will not use, don’t keep it out of guilt. Kondo says after thanking them for the gift, privately donate the gift to someone who truly needs it.

Tip#7 Pursue Simplicity, Not Quick Fixes

Anyone can buy a storage bin or baskets to hide clutter. Don’t give in to this temptation. Pursue simplicity, and truly tidy and organize the first time around, using your system you’ve developed as discussed in part one.

Tip #8 Get Started

I know we discussed beginning by categories, but if there are things that you know will be easy to get rid of, do it. Shed the weight of clutter in your home, garage, car, etc.

The Benefits Of Organization When Buying A New Home:

If you’ve just moved into a new home, this is the PERFECT time to implement your organization system to start fresh. No worries about developing clutter, because your handling it before it even has time to start!

The Benefits Of Organizing When Selling Your Home:

Organization speaks to buyers. A cluttered home is a sure way to turn them away from your home. A clean, tidy home shows off your home’s best features and allows them to picture their life in the home. It also makes the process of packing lightyears easier than if you were packing up years and years’ worth of clutter! Kondo gives us extremely helpful tips, as do I! Do you have any questions when it comes to buying and selling your beautifully organized home? You’re in luck! I happen to be an expert in that are, and would be happy to answer any questions you have! Please don’t hesitate to give me a call! 432.288.3880
